Scion (plural scions)

  1. A descendant; a son or daughter
  2. A detached shoot or twig containing buds from a woody plant; used in grafting
  3. The heir to a throne
  4. Also used as a synonym to "guardian"

Did you know that, if you have given your life to Jesus, you are not only a son or daughter of God, but you are a child of the King of kings?  That is truly amazing! Think about it; chew on it for awhile.  According to Ephesians 1:5, God has adopted you as His child and it was His delight to choose you!  If we are descendants of Jesus, we are God’s “Scions.” 
 
The Scion Program is a new plan, formerly called the Jr. C.I.T. program.  It is a new counselor training program that helps teens discover and use the gifts God has given us.  But what is it all about?

So you are too old to be a camper and too young to be a counselor

Who:
For those who are 14 and who would like to go from a camper to a counselor

When:
 Scion session (5 weeks each)  
1st session: June 2nd to July 11th 
2nd session: July 14th to Aug. 8th

Hours:
            7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday thru Friday
           
The Price:
             $35 dollars per week

Why:
Why not? This is a cool way to spend your summer: growing in Jesus, learning from counselors, hanging out with kids and sharing the love of Jesus with them.

 “The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few…” Our desire is to train young workers and equip them to minister to their peers.   Past Camp Indy campers have had the wonderful opportunity to serve the campers of Camp Indy as a counselor.  The experiences and knowledge gained from an experience such as this one can positively impact the course of your life!  As a Scion, you will learn the all the fine details of camp counseling. 

Scions will be trained by an assistant director and placed along-side a capable “lead counselor”.  They will be assigned to one specialty camp each week, where they will be allowed the freedom to exercise their leadership responsibilities.  There will be “in class” training, as well as an abundance of training “on the field.”  Scions are required to report to the pavilion at 7:30 am for staff devotions each day and will be obligated to leave by 5 pm every afternoon, just like a regular counselor.
                                    
Camp Indy requires a five week commitment to the Scion Program.  The two sessions that are available to choose from are: June 2 to July 11, or July 11 to Aug 8.  The number of Scion positions is limited, so please click here to apply.  The cost will be $35 per week.  Please pray about your involvement this summer.
